Crisp & Clean: The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Checklist for Home Sellers

General Cleaning:

1. Declutter: Go through each room and declutter items that are not needed or add to visual clutter.
2. Dust: Dust all surfaces including shelves, baseboards, ceiling fans, light fixtures, and furniture.
3. Wipe Down Surfaces: Clean countertops, tables, and other surfaces with appropriate cleaning solutions.
4. Vacuum/Mop Floors: Vacuum carpets and mop hard floors to remove dirt and stains.
5. Clean Windows: Wipe down windows and window sills both inside and out. Don’t forget to clean window screens.
6. Clean Mirrors: Use glass cleaner to clean mirrors and ensure they are streak-free.
7. Polish Fixtures: Polish metal fixtures such as doorknobs, faucets, and cabinet handles.
8. Clean Walls: Spot clean any stains on walls and wipe down walls where necessary.
9. Wash Curtains/Blinds: Remove curtains and wash them if possible. Dust or wash blinds.
10. Empty and Clean Cabinets/Drawers: Clean out cabinets and drawers, wiping them down inside and out.

Kitchen:

1. Clean Appliances: Clean the oven, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher inside and out.
2. Degrease Range Hood: Remove grease buildup from the range hood and its filter.
3. Scrub Countertops: Clean countertops thoroughly, paying attention to grout lines if applicable.

6. Clean Behind Appliances: Pull out appliances and clean behind and beneath them.

Bathroom:

1. Scrub Shower/Tub: Clean the shower and tub thoroughly, removing any soap scum or mildew.
2. Clean Toilet: Scrub the toilet inside and out, including behind and around the base.
3. Clean Sink and Faucet: Clean the sink and polish the faucet.
4. Organize Cabinets: Declutter and organize cabinets and drawers, discarding old or unused items.
5. Replace Shower Curtain/Liner: If applicable, replace the shower curtain or liner if it’s worn or dirty.

Bedrooms:

1. Wash Bedding: Wash all bedding including sheets, pillowcases, and duvet covers.
2. Vacuum Mattress: Vacuum the mattress to remove dust mites and debris.
3. Dust Furniture: Dust and polish furniture in bedrooms.
4. Organize Closets: Declutter and organize closets, donating or storing items that are not currently in use.

Outdoor Areas:

1. Mow Lawn: Keep the lawn neatly mowed and edged.
2. Trim Shrubs and Trees: Trim back any overgrown shrubs or trees.
3. Sweep Walkways and Driveway: Sweep walkways, driveway, and patio areas.
4. Clean Exterior: If applicable, power wash the exterior of the house to remove dirt and grime.
5. Tidy Up Garden: Remove any dead plants, weeds, or debris from the garden beds.

Final Touches:

1. Add Fresh Flowers: Place fresh flowers or plants in key areas to add a touch of color and freshness.
2. Air Out the House: Open windows to let in fresh air and eliminate any lingering odors.
3. Check for Repairs: Walk through the house to identify any minor repairs that need to be addressed before listing the property.
