Why Living In Texas Is Cheaper | Christy Buck Team

LIVING IN TEXAS

Living in Texas is less expensive than the national average. Here’s how the Houston area stacks up.

The cost of living in Texas continued to remain low relative to the rest of the country in 2021, according to data that the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis released last week .

Texas’ cost of living is 1.5 percent lower than the national average.

Overall prices in Texas were 1.5 percent below the national average — largely due to utility prices, which were 14.1 percent lower. Both housing costs and goods — which cover food, apparel, medical, transportation and recreation among other products and services — were lower, by 4.4 percent and 1.4 percent, respectively.
Texas has consistently had a below-average cost of living every year dating back to at least 2008, according to Bureau of Economic Analysis’ data.
