With the cooler weather starting to come in more, we at the Christy Buck Team want to make sure you are prepared for the upcoming winter months and the maintenance you should be doing in your home! Below are a few tips just for YOU!
-
Make sure your heater is functioning properly and your fireplace works, on those cold nights you will want to use them for sure!!’
-
Check your batteries in your smoke detectors, according to the U.S. Fire Admin, heating causes roughly 27% of structural fires during the winter months!!
-
Reverse ceiling fans: there should be a switch that allows the blades to run clockwise which can push heated air down.
-
Clear your gutters: this will allow any rain/snow (we know snow is minimal in houston area) to drain properly.
-
Make sure before a hard freeze that you insulate pipes around your home near windows, doors and anywhere unheated!
-
Make sure you have emergency supplies (really all year round) and are stocked up on essentials, winter storms tend to bring power outages!
